I receive a lot of catalogs and attend many trade shows and when I see a collection that grabs my attention immediately I like to share.  Of course if you've been looking at decor sites and receiving catalogs you know all the rave is chocolate brown paired with another color.  For the last two years and still popular is shades of blue with the brown.  The Monet Shower Curtain features elegant stripes of blue and brown that add subtle richness to your bath decor.  Complementing the shower curtain you will find the ceramic accessories include the pattern of the shower curtain and the matching bath towels complete the bathroom ensemble.

Now that Spring is here and the weather across the country is warming up most of us like to get outdoors before the brutal heat of the summer is upon us.  This brings up another subject regarding summer vacations.  With school letting out for the summer families normally plan for summer vacations whether it is a trip to an amusement park, a cruise or to the beach for rest and relaxation. Time to think Planters

I don't know about you but it is hard to start thinking about what I want to do in my garden this year.  Hmmm... may be because one day it's a gorgeous 72 degree and the next day there is snow flurries!   What really got me thinking about garden planters was the fact that I missed changing my clocks ahead so I was an hour behind on Sunday, but I don't think my 2 year old or 4 year old knew.  What happened to changing the clocks in April?   The early time change got me into the mood for livening up my outdoor space so I went online looking for planters to get ideas of what would look good I even called a few places only to be told "sorry we're sold out, but we'll have some in August!"  Wow! I thought I was early...guess that goes to show what thinking does sometimes.  If you are thinking about plants and outdoor planters now is the time to invest so you'll have them for the spring and summer season! 
At Decorative Visions we've added a few new planters both in lightweight Fiberstone and Fiberglass and people have been buying them since January.  These two types of planters have always been a popular choice due to their durability to withstand any kind of weather conditions.  I have a few of the fiberstone planters, just like the Ponte Square shown in the picture and I love being able to have it outside in the summer and also I like to bring it in to enjoy in the winter even though I could leave it outside all year round.    Other popular choices are the double rim in both the Fiberstone and Fiberglass and these  babies are hard to keep in stock and many people get a little disappointed that they waited so long to order and have to wait for the next shipment.   If you're thinking about adding a few planters to your outdoor space don't wait like me and get what you want soon or tell the Easter Bunny you'd like one in your basket.

2008 Trends in Kitchen Decor

I've been busy organizing since returning from the 2008 International Home Show held in Atlanta, Ga earlier this month and looking at my notes and mounds of papers and literature from manufacturers.  So, you are probably wondering what is going to be hot this year for kitchens and baths?  Well... there was a lot of red going on in each showroom along with neutral colors of ivory and taupes and chocolate browns.  It seems adding interest with neutral colors is going to be very vogue this year.

While red was a popular color don't worry I saw lots of shades of red from tomato red to burnt reds and I have to tell you they looked great!  I'm not necessarily a "red" person when it comes to decorating but I was amazed that I found the colors looked great. One of my favorites for the kitchen was this Venetian Scroll, it really gives elegance to your counter top and a sophisticated way to keep your favorite foods fresh and within easy reach.    The scroll design lends itself well with almost any decor style from traditional, modern and even country.  Giving your kitchen interest this year will be easier to do when you consider pairing a red with other colors you already have in your kitchen. 

Did you say Chocolate? 

Another color I found popular was brown, especially chocolate brown.  I think if my memory is correct I saw this color being used for throw pillows, blankets, dishes, bedding and everything in between.  A great color to use for the kitchen as well and it blends nicely with any color you would want to use.  Still popular is shades of blue and brown and green and brown.  I think any combination would make a great statement in your kitchen.  If you have questions or would like to know more about using reds and browns leave a comment and I will be happy to reply back.  Stay tuned as I will be bringing more of "what's hot for decorating in 2008".
