College Apts & Dorms Need Home Decor Too
With July almost over and one month left of summer, many are getting ready for their kids to go back to school and off to college for the first time. Sending your child to college is both exciting and a bit scary.
Times have changed a lot from when I went with just my personal belongings, a bedspread and milk crates for furniture! Now, there are sooooo many cool things to for parents to get their kids for their apartments or dorm rooms that give them a real feeling of home, which helps them focus on their studies. Whether or not your son or daughter will be living on campus in a dorm or sharing an apartment, there are a few items that can really change the appearance of the place and give it a “coolest pad” on campus touch.
Shower curtains besides being used to keep water off the floor are great for window treatments as well as a curtain for a closet. Simply get a tension rod and hang the curtain on that; use matching shower curtain hooks completes the look and gives the impression of a well thought out design plan.
Wicker and bamboo hampers and baskets are great for keeping
their clothes off the floors or using to store books, towels or other
essentials for tight areas such as dorm rooms. Try coordinating sets where you could use one for a laundry hamper, one for books, another for a wastebasket and one for other knick knacks or as a storage for towels.
Entertainment Centers for college students are
multi-functional as well. Besides being
used to house a stereo system or television; a component tower is a great
accessory which allows your child to display photos of family and friends,
store text books and other accessories without taking up much space. Many parents are finding out that a single
entertainment tower will last for years without going out of style.
Of course there are other items you may consider sending with your kid when they leave for college but the above mentioned are just some examples of how you can make the transition from home to college easier and give your child a more relaxed home away from home feel.
