Textiles: Tapestries Add Character To Your Home Decor

I’m hoping this post finds that everyone had a wonderful, safe 4^th of July. With the 4^th being the last holiday until Labor Day many of us will try to enjoy the rest of the summer while thinking about how we can enhance the interior of our homes.

 I know at least for myself I’m always looking around my home trying to find ways I can make it more interesting. One way that is really making a come back and gaining popularity is through the use of textiles for accenting a chair, bed and the walls. Normally I would find a painting or print I liked and one that matched my décor and purchase it. While it helped bring the room together I soon became not that pleased with my decision because I wanted the artwork to give the room more charm and interest through dimension. I recently remodeled my home and the walls of my dining room were a challenge for me. I had one large wall I could not figure out how to accessorize, I didn’t like any of the prints or paintings I found so I decided to add depth with a beautiful wall tapestry. I was amazed at how it pulled the entire room together and how it told a story. Not only did I find it interesting from a decorating perspective but I also got a wonderful piece of artwork.

 There are literally thousands of tapestries available in many motifs such as floral tapestries, landscapes, fruits, medieval tapestries all of which seem to tell a story with the fine details and beautiful colors found in tapestries today. Adding a tapestry to your home décor whether it is made of wool traditional of European tapestries or a synthetic one, you will be amazed at how it will add character and charm to your surroundings.
